Ultra Street Fighter 4 ‘s fifth character hasn’t been revealed yet, but the update is yet more proof that there is still life left in the current generation consoles in spite of the new ones. The latest update to what is considered the fighting game which brought the genre back is almost here, and four new videos have been released showing off the new additions to the roster of Capcom ‘s flagship brawler.
The original Street Fighter was a disaster, surprisingly, considering how its sequel became a classic by which all fighting games after it were measured. Street Fighter II was so popular, in fact, that Capcom released several updates to it without an actual sequel, and made gamers wonder if there would ever be an actual Street Fighter III . Years later it finally happened, but its insistence on sticking to a 2D art formula, and a terrible live-action movie, made way for Mortal Kombat to take center stage. Capcom has brought it back with the fourth installment.
Ultra Street Fighter 4 ‘s fifth character is among four new additions to the already massive list of fighters in Capcom’s most successful fighting game released in recent years. As always, it’s near impossible to predict who, or even what, the mystery character might be. Capcom is probably very aware that everybody’s hoping it isn’t Skullomania.
Beginning with the basic eight, with nine unlockables, Street Fighter 4 proved it could handle the third dimension without resorting to the abysmal 3D gameplay of Street Fighter EX . Super Street Fighter 4 added another batch of fighters, and Arcade Edition made the roster massive, adding versions of older characters hinted at in the game’s storyline.
The new additions to Ultra Street Fighter 4 , due to hit after April 2014, include characters from Street Fighter III , Street Fighter Alpha , and Street Fighter X Tekken . Hugo, Elena, Rolento, and Poison are expected to hit alongside a mystery newcomer who hasn’t been revealed yet. Apparently anyone with any legal copy of Street Fighter 4 can add these new fighters by grabbing the paid DLC, and the update will also fix some balance issues with existing characters.
While the fifth character added to Ultra Street Fighter 4 remains a mystery, we can still see what the four we know about can do in these videos. Their Ultra and Super combos are showcased in all of their glory as Hugo, Elena, Rolento, and Poison show their opponents who’s really in charge.
