Toyota recalls in 2013 now include another 780,000 vehicles recalled for suspension issues. And some Lexus and RAV4 crashes have been linked to a previous Toyota recall that failed to fix the problem.
As previously reported by The Inquisitr , the last Toyota recalls in 2013 were for Lexus hybrid engines shutting off .
The new Toyota Recalls affect the 880,584 RAV4 SUVs and Lexus HS 250h sedans released in the United States and Canadian markets. The 2006 through 2011 RAV4 and the 2010 Lexus are the only models affected by this particular Toyota recall.
But this is not the first time these models suffered a Toyota recall. In 2012 Toyota recalled these same models for a defect in the suspension system. Toyota found if a suspension nut isn’t tightened properly after a wheel alignment there was the potential for the suspension arms to rust and eventually separate from the vehicle.
But the 2012 Toyota recall failed to fix the problem correctly. Toyota believes at least nine crashes and three injuries are connected to the failed Toyota recalls.
The new 2013 Toyota recalls will fix the problem by sealing the suspensions arms with an epoxy solution, which should prevent rusting. But this Toyota recall is already suffering from a limited number of parts. Thus the Toyota recall will be rolled out in stages until February 2014.
