Tom Hardy is preparing to reshoot some scenes for Mad Max: Fury Road .
However, the Dark Knight Rises star doesn’t want you to call them “reshoots.” Although he initially described the additional footage as such, he quickly backtracked and reworded his description. Instead, Hardy suggested that he will return to the post-apocalyptic world to “do more” with the character. In other words, they’re probably reshoots.
“[Mad Max]’s great. It’s a big old piece, it’s a behemoth of a piece. I’m off there next week to do some reshoots — well not reshoots actually, but doing more. We’re building, building more Mad Maxes, even more spectacular and cool stuff,” Tom Hardy said during an interview with Flicks and the City .
According to IGN , Mad Max: Fury Road will start shooting additional material on November 22. The website also reports that some of the cast and crew could spend up to three weeks filming these brand new sequences. However, it’s a little unclear what’s being added to the forthcoming sequel.
If you’re concerned that Tom Hardy’s Mad Max flick is a stinker, then the folks at Badass Digest want to put your mind at ease. The website explains that upcoming action movie is nothing short of “awesome.” Instead of fixing problems, the reshoots should enhance no less than two of the film’s major set pieces.
Mad Max: Fury Road was originally announced several years ago. Instead of a remake, Tom Hardy told Collider back in 2010 that the upcoming sci-fi flick was more of a “relaunch” and “revisit” that takes the character’s previous adventures into consideration.
“An entire restructuring. That’s not to say that it’s not picking up or leaving off from the Mad Max you know already, but it’s a nice re-take on the entire world using the same character, depositing him in the same world but bringing him up to date by 30 years,” the actor said.
As for Mad Max’s look, Tom Hardy offered up the following description:
“Imagine a hungry wolf. Or like when you put a cat in the bath. You grab a cat by the throat and stuff it under the f***ing water. You know what it looks like? That’s what I’m going to look like. But like a puma. Very hungry at very dangerous. It’s imperative. This is the kind of guy who’s not well. So I have to create that reality.”
Unfortunately for Tom Hardy and Mad Max fans, it’s still unclear when George Miller’s project will hit the big screen. What do you think about the upcoming Fury Road reshoots?
