With Tom Cruise leaving Scientology, according to some reports, many people may wonder why the actor is suddenly giving up a religion he has been a part of for so many years. It turns out that Suri Cruise may be the main reason for Tom to give it up.
In a related report by the Inquisitr , former Scientologist Leah Remini says the religion is “not just something you get over. It’s people and a lifestyle you’ve known all your life. It formed who I am, good and bad. It formed the way I think, good and bad.” She also described how the religion took a large portion of her time. One day she realized the Scientology coursework was taking away from the time Leah was able to spend with her daughter.
“I was at one of these hotels in Florida, and I saw my daughter swimming for the first time while I’m reading this thing,” she recalled. “And a tear came down my face. And I was like, ‘What am I doing?’ ”
If we see Tom Cruise leaving Scientology , rumors claim his reasons are the same as Remini’s, although in his case the moment of revelation came during a phone call.
“She was going on and on about her ballet class and how much she loves it. That’s when Tom realized he’s never seen her perform ballet and he started to tear up,” a Cruise insider reportedly told Star , according to Hollywood Life . “It hit him that she’s growing up before his eyes and he’s not there to witness most of it. They talk on the phone and video chat, but it’s not the same.”
It is claimed that the Scientology Church is putting a lot of pressure on Tom Cruise’s daughter, since he is the “poster boy” for the religion, yet his own daughter is not being raised within their walls. It is possible the church may label Suri Cruise a “suppressive person,” or an enemy of the church, and if that occurs, it would be even harder to maintain a relationship.
“Tom has missed birthdays, school events, all the special parts of childhood that happen so fast and are gone before you know it. Suri is not a baby anymore; she is fully aware that her father isn’t around much,” the source said. “When she speaks to him on the phone, it’s becoming more and more like she’s talking to a stranger.”
Will we see Tom Cruise leaving Scientology any time soon? The story does not say, although there has also been external pressure to speak negatively of the church. Recently, a new documentary, Going Clear: Scientology and the Prison of Belief , has challenged people like Cruise and John Travolta to speak out against the Scientology Church, but Cruise has remained silent on the issue.
