The Voice has featured a touching tribute to the victims of the Newtown school shooting in its series finale.

On a stage illuminated with candles, a choir of this year’s coaches and contestants sang the Leonard Cohen classic “Hallelujah.” They were joined on stage by host Carson Daly and Christina Milian, with every individual in the choir holding a small card with the name and age of a victim in the tragedy.

The Voice ‘s touching tribute, which you can watch below, opened the first part of this season’s two-part finale on Monday night.

Judges Blake Shelton, Adam Levine, Christina Aguilera, and Cee Lo Green all sang a line each and were supported by a backing group of more than twenty contestants.

The Voice ‘s touching tribute is not the first nod to the Newtown victims to appear on an entertainment program. On its most recent episode, Saturday Night Live also paid tribute to the 20 children and six adults who died in the tragedy.

The live show, famous for its comedy skits, sensitively chose to open Saturday’s episode with an a cappella version of “Silent Night” as sung by the New York City Children’s Chorus.

Other stars have paid their own tributes to the victims of the Sandy Hook Elementary School shooting. On Sunday, the New York Giants donned helmets with a decal that honored the victims, while wide receiver Victor Cruz wrote the name of 6-year-old victim Jack Pinto on his cleats and gloves along with the words, “My hero.”
