Season 2 of The Flash is keeping the TV series one of the best shows on all of television. The first season was really good, but things have only gotten better. One of the biggest things happening so far this season is the emergence of Zoom and the problems he has with Barry Allen. Well, fans got their first great look at him and now, everyone is wondering about his/her identity? Who exactly is Zoom?
Please know that the following information does contain some SPOILERS for season 2 of The Flash . If you don’t want to know or haven’t been watching, then stop reading now.
Many rumors have been flying around as to who Zoom actually is, and things have not been simplified any by the reveal of Earth-2. It’s known that Tony Todd provides the voice of the super villain, but the show identity of Zoom is what is boggling so many people.
It’s obvious that Zoom has a real problem with Barry as every metahuman who has attempted to kill the Flash this season was sent by Zoom. With Earth-2, and numerous other Earths out there, it’s left a lot of possibilities as to who the bad guy is.
Right now, so many people are trying to figure out who Zoom is, and it has crowded the internet with some intriguing and also pointless theories. A conversation on Reddit has even jokingly started saying that Patty Spivot is Zoom and she’s only faking her attraction to Barry in order to get close to him.
Somehow, some way, Zoom is connected to Barry Allen through the multiverse of Earths. If he wasn’t, there would be no real reason for him to keep trying to kill the Flash. That being said, let’s check out the top possibilities and rumors as to who Zoom may be.
1. Eddie Thawne from Earth-2
Okay, so in the season 1 finale, Eddie did die during the giant wormhole issue in Central City. Maybe he was indeed thrust over to Earth-2 and has taken on the appearance of Zoom because of where his life has been taken thanks to the Flash.
It seems as if Eddie (Rick Cosnett) is dead and gone, but stranger things have happened. Even though this may be a long-shot, Reddit users really are kind of stuck on this one and think it’s possible.
2. Barry Allen of Earth-2
Both Zoom and the Flash are Speedsters and that’s the biggest similarity. One other thing to realize is that everyone on Earth-1 has a doppelganger version on Earth-2. It’s also known that the doppelganger version is usually the exact opposite of what their Earth-1 version is.
Early this season, Barry Allen was trying to be a loner and work on his own and it showed a tad touch of a darker side of the Flash. What if Barry Allen of Earth-2 doesn’t have that support system and kept turning darker which brought about Zoom?
3. Henry Allen of Earth-2
As Comic Book Resources pointed out, this is probably the most popular rumor going around. It is known that Henry Allen, Barry’s father, was convicted of killing his wife, spent years in jail, and was then freed. Maybe the Earth-2 version of Henry Allen really did kill his wife and vows to get rid of his “son” as well.
Wouldn’t it make sense for Barry, who has long had issues with father figures (his dad, Joe West, Harrison Wells), to really be screwed over by his sort-of dad?
4. Eobard Thawne of Earth-2
There is a very long history and story of Eobard Thawne in the DC Comics’ version of The Flash , and this is one that is confusing but possible. He was erased when Eddie was killed, but as we know, there’s still Earth-2.
5. Harrison Wells of Earth-2
All that needs to be asked here is: could Barry Allen end up betrayed by both versions of Harrison Wells? Maybe, but not original.
Season 2 of The Flash has a lot of rumors and spoilers swirling around, and those include the possibility of Tom Welling’s Superman showing up from Smallville . While many hope that will happen, the wonder right now is centered on Zoom and just who the dark speedster actually is.
