Dallas, TX – A 65-year-old woman was robbed of her electric wheelchair by a pair of hooligans while on her way to church Sunday night, according to NBC News . Patricia Slaughter, who has survived two heart attacks, was just minding her own business when two men approached her as she motored underneath an overpass.

Not only did these opportunistic thieves take the poor woman’s electric wheelchair, they also made off with all the money Patricia had to carry her through until the first of the month.

“They took all the money that I had to live until the first — $50,” Slaughter explained. “They took my watch and ring, my ID — everything.”

Patricia was on her way to church when the two men pulled up never to her in a van. One of the guys offered her money to come home with him, an invitation she immediately refused. Almost as soon as she turned the man down, the goons sprang into action.

“He jumped out of the truck, and they yanked me out of the chair onto the ground,” Slaughter told NBC News . “I went to get up and he put his foot on my stomach he said, ‘You can’t do anything lady — stay down,’ and they picked up the chair put it in the back of the van and drove off.”

Although the thieves made off with quite a few of Patricia Slaughter’s possessions, she really just wants to get her electric wheelchair back. “It’s everything,” she said. “It’s the way I go to the store, to church and everything.”

Police are asking the public to come forward with any information they may have regarding incident.

Sadly, this isn’t the first time a group of individuals have taken a wheelchair from someone in need. Towards the end of May, thieves stole a wheelchair and a wheelchair-accessible van from a Texas teenager with cerebral palsy.
