‘Texas Chainsaw 3D’ TV Spot Wishes Everyone A Happy New Year [Video]

The producers of the upcoming sequel Texas Chainsaw 3D are hoping moviegoers will spend part of the new year sitting in theaters watching their movie.

The new TV spot for director John Luessenhop’s upcoming horror flick sets the atmosphere by playing “Auld Lang Syne” over a series of foreboding images. Right as one of Leatherface’s victims is about to lose an arm, the record player spinning the tune begins to skip. For all intents and purposes, it’s an effective bit.

According to Cinema Blend , Texas Chainsaw 3D picks up where Tobe Hooper’s original 1974 classic left off. Instead of following the storyline set forth by the recent remake and its sequel, the filmmakers opted to go back to the original well for inspiration.

The film is being described by Lionsgate as follows:

“Picking up where the 1974 original film ends, the citizens of Newt, Texas decide to burn down the farm house of the Sawyer family for their role in aiding Jeb Sawywer, also know as Leatherface, in countless murders. The entire family is presumed dead with the exception of an infant, Heather, who is placed with an adoptive family.

Twenty years later, Heather learns of her adoption when a lawyer informs her that her long lost grandmother has left her an inheritance. Heather and her friends travel through Texas to pick up her inheritance, which, unknown to her, includes her cousin Leatherface.”

Although 3D is in the title of the latest Texas Chainsaw flick , moviegoers won’t have to pay to see the film in the third dimension. Those who intend to venture out into theaters this January to see the sequel will be able to choose between 2D and 3D.

The latest TV spot for the film has been included below.

Director John Luessenhop’s Texas Chainsaw 3D , which stars Alexandra Daddario, Tania Raymonde, and Scott Eastwood, opens in theaters across the United States on January 4.
