Taylor Swift picked up the phone to call a fan battling cancer, and that simple act of kindness lightened the 12-year-old’s struggles. While others have sought ways to support Emily Beazley, the time that her pop singer idol took meant the world to the little girl, reported People .

A Chicago resident, Emily was thrilled when politicians named a street in her honor, and was delighted to receive an honorary membership from the Chicago Police Department. But the 12-year-old’s mother revealed that nothing meant more than her conversation with Taylor.

“The smile on my daughter [is one] I have not seen in a very, very long time,” said Nadia Beazley emotionally. “I could cry.”

After chemotherapy treatments since she was first diagnosed with stage III T-cell lymphoblastic non-Hodgkins lymphoma in 2011, Emily still battles the aggressive cancer. Her physicians informed her family that no other treatments exist.

Knowing how much their daughter desired to talk to Taylor, her family used social media to appeal to Swift.

“We would be here all day if I told you why I liked her,” admitted Emily in describing how much she adores Taylor.

During her phone call with Taylor, however, Emily played the role of listener as Swift revealed that she was moved when she learned that the 12-year-old relied on her music to ease the pain of her many treatments.

Emily’s appeal to talk to Taylor comes at a time when the 25-year-old just revealed that her own mother is battling cancer . Swift announced the news in a letter to fans, reported Us Weekly .

“I’m writing to you with an update I wish I wasn’t giving you, but it’s important and I’m used to sharing important events in my life with you,” she wrote.

Reflecting on how she usually turns events in her life into songs, Swift noted that she wanted to let her fans know about her mother’s health tragedy immediately.

“Usually when things happen to me, I process them and then write music about how I feel, and you hear it much later. This is something my family and I thought you should know about now. For Christmas this year, I asked my mom that one of her gifts to me be her going to the doctor to get screened for any health issues, just to ease some worries of mine. She agreed, and went in to get checked.”

And although everything seemed fine, Taylor’s 57-year-old mother Andrea Swift agreed, only to be shocked by the results.

“There were no red flags and she felt perfectly fine, but she did it just to get me and my brother off her case about it,” added Taylor. “The results came in, and I’m saddened to tell you that my mom has been diagnosed with cancer.”

Swift is known for her close relationship with her mother. In addition, she has support from her many friends, who recently gathered together to celebrate Taylor’s 25th birthday , as the Inquisitr reported.

Among her closest buddies is Selena Gomez, who calls Swift her BFF.
