Singer Taylor Swift made one of the top spots on Forbes ‘ highest female earners list, a pretty good slice of PR with just a few weeks left until the release of her highly-anticipated new album, Red .
Forbes ‘ annual list of highest-paid women in the entertainment industry went up yesterday, and the results reflect what you probably already expected. As usual, Oprah Winfrey sits at the top with a $165 million earned last year, followed by Britney Spears (who was absent from the list in 2011) with $58 million. Swift came in at number three with $57 million.
Ellen DeGeneres and Rihanna tied for fourth/fifth with $53 million, Lady Gaga and Jennifer Lopez tied for sixth/seventh with $52 million, and Katy Perry, Gisele Bundchen, and Judge Judy rounded out the eighth-through-tenth spots with $45 million each.
Also in the news for Taylor Swift fans – the singer has debuted the title track of her upcoming album Red , which is sure to please fans who were slightly disappointed by the overt pop of “We Are Never Getting Back Together.” Notes Rolling Stone , “Red” is “overall more reminiscent of Swift’s break-out broken-hearted anthems. With banjos flying, strings swelling and guitars wailing, Swift keeps her lyrics simple but effective: ‘Loving him was blue like I’ve never known / Missing him was dark grey, all alone / Forgetting him was like ruing to know somebody you never met / But loving him was red.’ ”
Red is out on October 22, but you can listen to the title track below. Let us know what you think, Taylor Swift fans!
