Suzanne Somers paid tribute to the late John Ritter on Monday night’s episode of Dancing With The Stars. According to the Huffington Post , Somers decided to reprise her role as Chrissy Snow from Three’s Company, and she dedicated the dance to Ritter, who was a dear friend to her. The emotional number was very nostalgic for Somers, who chose that time in her life as her “most memorable year,” which was Monday’s theme.
“This one’s for you John. It’s the dance that Chrissy and John never got to have,” Somers said in her pre-dance package.
According to Softpedia , Somers and her dance pro partner, Tony Dovolani, danced a foxtrot to the theme song from the popular 80’s sitcom. The duo danced in front of a recreated living room set that was nearly identical to the one in the show.
Suzanne Somers’ tribute to Ritter was extremely fun, and the audience really seemed to enjoy it. The judges also enjoyed the performance and expressed such in their critiques.
Carrie Ann Inaba felt as though Somers’ “goodbye” to Ritter was actually a “hello” to the competition. Len Goodman said he really “liked the dance.” Julianne Hough noticed that Somers was “in her element,” and said that the content was great. Bruno Tonioli agreed and added that the dance was “sweet and uplifting.”
Somers and Dovolani scored a 28 out of 40, receiving sevens across the board. Even still, those scores weren’t what the two were expecting, since the judges all said that they really liked the dance. Tony seemed a bit disappointed with the scores, clearly hoping for something a little higher… eights, perhaps.
As previously reported by the Inquisitr , Suzanne took to Instagram after her tribute, and posted an old photo of her and John together.
“A legendary comedian and even dearer friend. I love you, John,” Somers captioned the pic.
What some people don’t know is that Somers and her co-stars John Ritter and Joyce DeWitt didn’t always get along. When the actress left the show over a salary dispute in 1982, she didn’t talk to Ritter and DeWitt for many years. In 2002, two decades later, Somers and Ritter were able to mend their relationship. However, Ritter passed away just one year later. Knowing this, it’s clear to see just how much Monday night’s dance meant to Suzanne.
