Suri Cruise experienced a birthday bash thrown by mom Katie Holmes that made her little girl’s dreams come true. Turning nine, the daughter of Tom Cruise and Katie is crazy about cupcakes, so Holmes concocted a leaning tower of pastry that looked and tasted as sugary as the famous tot desired, reported Us Weekly .
Because Katie and Suri live in New York City, the actress decided to take advantage of the local passion for cupcakes. The birthday bash took place at the Gilded Lily on April 18.
“Katie got an assortment of vanilla, chocolate, and red velvet cupcakes decorated in pink and purple from Georgetown Cupcake SoHo,” revealed a source of the loving mom’s preparations. “Dozens and dozens of cupcakes were placed on cupcake towers for the celebration!”
In addition, Tom Cruise’s ex-wife made sure that the guests had a reason to dance.
“Katie brought a DJ in for Suri,” said an insider.
Before they chowed down on cupcakes, Katie made sure that Suri’s little guests filled up on protein by serving burgers and chicken fingers, reported E News .
“Suri and her friends ate, danced and ran around. She was just a normal kid having a good time with her friends,” said a source.
With only 15 carefully selected pals for the party, it was described as a “low-key celebration.”
But amid all the birthday bash excitement, where was Suri’s father? As the Inquisitr reported, Tom Cruise’s separation from both Suri and Katie Holmes is viewed as closely linked to his Scientology religious beliefs.
Tom wanted to raise Suri in the Church of Scientology, and admitted that Katie had revealed she left him because she wanted to protect her daughter from that fate.
When Cruise was asked if Suri practiced Scientology , he also expounded on his views about the then-7-year-old, according to the Huffington Post .
Although Tom revealed that Suri does not practice Scientology, he may not have let go of his hopes that she will someday desire to follow her father’s lead, according to Samantha Domingo, a former Scientologist.
“According to Scientology doctrine, Katie has denied Suri her spiritual eternity in the church. There’s no chance for her now,” said Samantha. “Why would Katie deny their daughter her spiritual freedom? How suppressive is that? If [Tom] loves his daughter, he will never give up on [Scientology]. He will try to use every means available to help his child, and he does think he’s helping his child, but he’s also helping the church control his life.”
