Sony has unveiled the Xperia Z mobile phone, set to be released this March. It debuted at the Consumer Electronic Show ( CES ) in Las Vegas, Nevada . The Xperia Z runs on Android software and is Sony’s attempt to compete with the iPhone and Samsung Galaxy technology.
The Sony Xperia Z is waterproof and dust resistant, submersible in liquid up to 3.3 feet (1 meter) for up to 30 minutes. For those with a propensity to lose a cell phone to an accidental toilet or bathtub drop, this might be the next phone for you. Its body is composed of a sleek glass-fiber polymer metallic material frame and anti-shatter glass.
The Sony Xperia Z has a 5 inch (12.7cm) full HD 1080p display, 13 megapixel camera with HDR video support, along with the following:
Android 4.1 Jelly Bean, 1.5 GHz Qualcomm quad-core processor (Snapdragon™ S4 Pro quad-core processor), Bluetooth 4.0, HD voice, GPS, 4G LTE, 2GB RAM, 16GB integrated memory with microSD card, and a NFC chip. The NFC chip allows owners to play back video on their TV simply by tapping the phone against it.
