In one of their latest posts, the White House rejoiced over US President Donald Trump removing tariffs on grocery items. They also listed the set of items that had the tariffs removed. However, netizens were left unimpressed and reminded them that it was the US President himself who had imposed the tariffs in the first place.
This also comes after Trump has time and again refused to acknowledge that the price of grocery items is surging and has instead maintained that the economy is flourishing. The POTUS removed the reciprocal tariffs on items like tea, coffee, oranges, bananas, beef, and tomatoes.
The White House took to its official social media handle to share a picture of Donald Trump signing the executive order. They captioned it, “Thanks to President Trump’s deal-making, we are making trade fair again and winning big. Coffee, tea, cocoa, spices, bananas, oranges, tomatoes, beef, fertilizers, and more are now exempt from reciprocal tariffs. America First policies delivering for workers and families.”

However, no sooner had the White House shared the post than netizens started a troll fest on X to take a dig at the President. They recalled how it was Trump himself who had imposed the tariffs in the first place. Some users also criticized the White House for the post.

While another user added, “The White House thinks we are all m***ns.” A netizen took a sharp jibe at the White House and Donald Trump, asking how the picture of him signing the executive order was taken with a straight face.
The post read, “How is this taken with a straight face? The White House imposed the tariffs and now takes credit for removing them?” while another user said, “Whoever imposed those tariffs in the first place must have been a real idiot.”

An X user mocked how Trump is taking credit for solving something that was started by him in the first place. The post read, “Arsonist gets credit for putting out the fire he started.”
Another netizen called Donald Trump a joke, sharing a flow chart that shows him imposing the tariffs initially, which made the prices go up. Then, the President again goes on to remove the tariffs and declares victory for himself.
Well, it seems like netizens aren’t enamored with this latest development. Interestingly, a few days back, Donald Trump shared on his Truth Social account, “costs under the TRUMP ADMINISTRATION are tumbling down.” Not only this, but in a recent interaction with CBS’s 60 Minutes, he also claimed that there is no inflation under his administration.

Trump was heard saying, “We have no inflation. We have no inflation. Biden had inflation, and he didn’t have tariffs.” Meanwhile, this also comes amidst the POTUS’ administration battling the many controversies surrounding the Epstein files fiasco.
