Skyfall director Sam Mendes is rumored to be attached to the next James Bond movie, according to the folks at Screen Crave .

Since Skyfall is currently making all sorts of money at the worldwide box office, it’s not surprising that producers are anxious to get the next installment of the franchise underway. Various rumors suggest director Sam Mendes may be attached to the next film in one way or another.

Coming Soon reports that James Bond scribes Neal Purvis and Robert Wade will not be returning for the next movie. However, they did reveal that Mendes has been cooking up an idea regarding 007’s next cinematic adventure.

“I know that John Logan and Sam Mendes have come up with a plot for another one, which takes the pressure off because these films take up a lot of time,” Wade explained.

In the official press release regarding their departure from the Bond franchise, the duo explained their experience with James Bond universe and Skyfall .

“When we were originally asked to come in to meet the Bond people, we weren’t expecting to be walking straight into a meeting with Barbara Broccoli and Michael G. Wilson,” Purvis said. “Usually there are many other layers of people that stop you getting to the head honchos and we certainly were not expecting to be kept around for 15 years.”

“When we met Eon Productions, only two of our screenplays had been made into films. It just seemed preposterous to us that they wouldn’t have other writers on the project,” Wade explained. “But they’d read a few of our other scripts and liked our sense of character and action. If there’s action without a story or a character angle, then it’s just boring.”

Currently it’s unknown just now involved Sam Mendes will be in the next installment of the Bond franchise. Given how well he handled Skyfall , chances are very few people will complain if he agrees to direct once again.
