Savannah Guthrie is learning not to mess with fiance Matt Feldman.
After the Today show anchor surprised Matt at a birthday party she threw by printing his childhood photo on the napkins, Feldman plotted his revenge. He found the perfect opportunity on Tuesday, when Savannah paid a visit to The Tonight Show .
Feldman teamed up with host Jay Leno to even the score with Savannah, sneaking Leno a picture of her as a child that was then displayed to viewers.
Leno even took the chance to make fun of the picture a bit.
“I love this photo. Look at this,” he said. “If it wasn’t for the fact that this was in color, I’m guessing that dress is from 1923?”
But all in all, the photo wasn’t all that bad. Savannah didn’t really have any embarrassing features aside from the old-looking clothes, and pretty much looked like any adolescent would.
Despite the prank war, it’s clear that Savannah Guthrie and Matt Feldman are very much in love. The couple got engaged in May after dating for years.
“We’ve been together four years, so, as he said, no one will accuse us of rushing into anything. We adore each other. Our families have been in-laws for years … they were just waiting for us to catch up!” Savannah Guthrie explained on the Today show .
She added, “I got engaged over the weekend. I just came in wearing this ring, hoping one of my colleagues would notice … and no one noticed!”
Savannah even had Michael call the show to discuss the engagement .
“It’s not bad being the luckiest guy in the world,” Feldman said.
Savannah Guthrie and Matt Feldman have yet to announce a date for their wedding, but they may want to hide all embarrassing photos from each other before the ceremony.
