The Sandy Hook anniversary is remembering the victims in Newtown with the tolling of a town bell.
As previously reported by The Inquisitr , Sandy Hook Elementary is to be torn down .
Several weeks ago, in November, the final Sandy Hook shooting report was released by the State Attorney’s office . Unfortunately, Adam Lanza’s motive remains a mystery to this day, with the deranged killer even going so far as to destroy his computer’s hard drive so police couldn’t look back into his life . But police do believe Adam was planning on killing more people , and it’s possible his actions were triggered by his mother attempting to have him committed .
But what we do know for certain is that Lanza killed his own mother then drove to Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown, Connecticut. He walked into the building with a gun and started shooting, only to commit suicide by turning the weapon on himself. In the end, 26 lives were taken away at the school. Today, they were all remembered.
The town of Newtown marked the the day by tolling the bells at the St. Rose of Lima church 26 times, and flags all over the state were at half-flag in remembrance. Each chime was accompanied by the reading of a Sandy Hook victims’ name. These actions echoed a similar event almost a year ago when Church bells all over America recalled the victims .
Connecticut Governor Dannel Malloy says the Sandy Hook anniversary should be used for positive change:
“The message of these two actions is simple: a moment to come together and mourn, followed by acts of kindness to one another.”
Again, this mirrors how people pledged to enact 26 acts of kindness in order to honor the names of the 26 victims .
