Rob Morrison, an anchor for WCBS-TV in New York , has been charged with attempted strangulation of his wife following a weekend incident at the couple’s Connecticut home.
Arrested in Darien, CT, police had this to say in a statement, “Upon arrival, it was ascertained that Morrison had been becoming increasingly belligerent toward his wife during the course of the evening, culminating in his choking her by the neck with both hands.”
The New York Daily News reports that Darien Police said they responded to Morrison’s Hollow Tree Ridge Road home around 1:30 am Sunday after having received a phone call from his mother-in-law reporting a domestic incident.
Morrison, 44, now faces charges of second-degree strangulation, threatening, and disorderly conduct from the Sunday incident. He has been accused of attempting to choke his wife, Ashley Morrison, a reporter for CBS MoneyWatch . His wife didn’t require medical treatment, but she did have noticeable marks from the conflict.
While being processed, Morrison “made verbal threats to do his wife additional harm, which were overheard by arresting officers.”
Morrison was set free Monday on a $100,000 bond and is ordered back to court on Tuesday.
According to NBC News , the Morrisons said they were “cooperating fully with the authorities to insure that all of the information necessary to properly evaluate this unfortunate incident is made available. The Morrisons are confident that a full review of this matter will show that the allegations have been greatly exaggerated.”
