Rob Lowe is defending his Paris tweet, even amid massive backlash from Twitter users and liberal members of the media. The actor and Ohio native authored a series of tweet after the ISIS terrorism attacks on Friday evening to share his opinion on the matter and to offer support for the people of France.

Lowe’s defense of the tweet was swift, and Rob shows no signs of an eagerness to apologize for sharing his thoughts about the attack and open borders policy of France — which now appears to have come to an end. While some Twitter users referred to Rob Lowe as “low-life scum,” other shook their head in agreement of the open borders tweet, Fox News notes.

Oh, NOW France closes its borders. #Hollande

The open borders and Syrian refugees issue has been hotly debated by news anchors, presidential candidates, and Americans from around the country. As previously reported by the Inquisitr , during the Democratic debate on Saturday, Hillary Clinton stated that she supports bringing at least 65,000 Syrian refugees into the United States, even though some of the Paris attack ISIS fighters are believed to have slipped into the country while posing as refugees.

Alabama Governor Robert Bentley issued a post-attack statement to formally alert the Obama administration and the federal government that his state will not be allowing any Syrian refugees to “resettle” in his state.

Rob Lowe, the star of television series The Grinder , also posted a tweet relating to the speech given by French President Hollande. Some Twitter users felt the tweet by the actor was insensitive or inappropriate under the circumstances.

This is either the worst translation of an important speech ever, or one of the worst ever given. #Hollande

Wow. For you trolls out there, the phrase “Vive La France” is the traditional expression of SUPPORT for France. Don’t misinterpret my words.

Lived in France, and spend a ton of time there. Been in that stadium. This is all so devastatingly sad for a place I love. #FrenchPrayers

Rob Lowe was born in Charlottesville, Virginia, to Barbara Lynn (Hepler), a schoolteacher, and Charles Davis Lowe, a lawyer, IMDb notes. Lowe became an overnight heartthrob after starring in The Outsiders in the early 1980s. His brother, Chad Lowe, is also an actor.

Lowe moved with his family to Dayton, Ohio, when he was a little boy. After breaking into acting during his teenager years, Rob was part of what was known as the “Brat Pack.” The nod to the Frank Sinatra Rat Pack was a phrase created to highlight the emerging group of powerful young actors and actresses who were extremely popular at the time, and often made movies together.

In 1988, Rob Lowe was involved in a scandal over a sexually explicit videotape which involved a minor. He performed 20 hours of community service in Dayton for his involvement in the video tape scandal involving the young woman the actor did not know was a minor. After the scandal, Lowe spent a time dealing with a drugs and alcohol problem. After getting clean, Rob re-established himself as box office gold in the 1990s. He has reportedly been a clean and sober father for the past two decades.

Kennedy in an adaptation of the Bill O’Reilly book, Killing Kennedy . In 2003, Lowe worked to help elect Arnold Schwarzenegger as the governor of California.
