If you are someone who is eligible to receive Social Security benefits from the SSA, there are a few important dates you need to keep in mind. Social security payments from $2,831 to $5,108 can be claimed by eligible retirees aged 62-70 years old, depending on several factors as explained ahead.

The payments are scheduled to go out from July 3 to July 9 in batches, depending on the age of the recipient. The first group of people who qualify under the eligibility criteria will receive payments on July 3. While the rest can expect to receive their payment on July 9.

Nearly 70 million Americans are currently benefiting from the SSA’s program. The benefits that retirees receive are proving to be crucial for many of them. The rising inflation and living costs are making it harder for the elderly to manage their expenses.

The amount of money each retiree will receive depends on several factors. Their date of birth and when they started claiming their benefits factor in while estimating their benefits. The day that you receive the payment is also affected by several factors.

A retiree who has waited until the age of 70 to start claiming their benefits gets a much bigger check monthly than someone who started claiming them much sooner. The minimum age to start claiming benefits is set at 62 years of age.

The first criterion is that the individual must’ve claimed their first Social Security benefit at 70. The second criterion is that they must have worked a job that paid into the social security taxes for 35 years, as per a report.

The individual’s earnings every year have to meet the taxable maximum threshold that has been set. The individual must have mandatorily worked in jobs that paid payroll taxes consistently.
