Rashida Jones’ Band of Outsiders fall 2013 ad campaign features the 37-year-old Parks and Recreation star’s sister Kidada.
The fashion label was launched in 2004 by Scott Sternberg, who is also the photographer. The new campaign was rolled out on social media this week, with the Polaroid-style photos being unveiled on the Band of Outsider’s Tumbler and Instagram pages.

According to New York Magazine , the label is most popular in Tokyo, Japan, where the slim-fitting yet textured fabrics appeal to the fashion capital’s aesthetics. However, there is a growing appreciation for Band of Outsiders in America, in part because of the intelligent use of social media to get the word out.
The Jones sisters have reportedly supported the Band of Outsiders label for some time, which makes them a great fit for the fall 2013 ad campaign.
Food World News noted that the shoot took place in July at The Dresden Restaurant in Los Angeles. Rashida and Kidada Jones are all bundled-up in the heavily textured fall designs.
The unusual giant turbans really catch the eye, although I confess that they don’t appear to be especially wearable. I feel like they frame the face in a way that isn’t flattering to anyone except models and actresses with perfect skin and a makeup team.
But The Huffington Post apparently loved them. Their style blogger burbled that the Band of Outsiders ad campaign “should remind everyone that Rashida has serious fashion chops…and…she can wear the hell out of a turban.”
Rashida Jones is just the latest celebrity to appear in a Band of Outsiders ad campaign. Frank Ocean, Amy Adams, Kirsten Dunst, and Brie Larson have also posed for the label.
