Paul McCartney got a chance to front the band Nirvana yet again on last night’s Saturday Night Live .
The Beatles alum played frontman for a semi-reunion of the ground-breaking grunge band Nirvana for the 12-12-12 Hurricane Sandy Relief Benefit Concert . The fun’s not over yet, as the line-up appeared yet again on last night’s Martin Short-hosted episode of Saturday Night Live .
McCartney headed up the band, which included Dave Grohl, Krist Novoselic, and Pat Smear. The super-group performed their original collaborative track, “Cut Me Some Slack.”
The original performance of “Cut Me Some Slack” at the 12-12-12 Sandy Benefit concert was well received by most (except Courtney Love, of course ). The SNL reunion of the new Nirvana line-up might have been just an encore, or it might be the beginning of something more for the group.
This is all speculation of course, but McCartney is a hugely collaborative artist, and it’s possible that “Cut Me Some Slack” gets expanded into a one-off album featuring the former members of Nirvana (especially since Dave Grohl is on hiatus from Foo Fighters duties). Still, this might have just been a curtain call for a pretty interesting musical collaboration.
