We’re all being a bit too catty about Kimye’s baby name, aren’t we? Though the media and Twitter criticized Kanye West and Kim Kardashian for bestowing the unfortunate name “North West” on their new baby girl, it dawns suddenly that no one really even knows why they picked it in the first place, or what meaning it is supposed to convey.
In case you were wondering about that, TMZ has it on good authority that “ North West ” is probably not as shallow a name as we originally thought . Even if that’s the case, the insider’s explanation for the name was somehow more confusing than the lyrics to Yeezus .
The source says that the name “North West” is meant to be more “inspirational than directional,” and that both Kardashian and West believe that having a baby together is the highest of highs they can experience as a couple .
“What’s North of North? Nothing,” said the source, who also called North West the couple’s “North Star.”
That’s deep, bro.
In any case, many in the media have observed that we are perhaps being a bit too harsh with Kimye over their baby’s name. Many celebrities have often reminded us of how special they are by breaking convention with their children’s names. After all, is “North West” really any worse than Blue Ivy, Brooklyn, Bronx, Moses, and Apple?
All things being equal, probably not.
North West was born three weeks early on June 15 . The baby girl is the first child for both Kardashian and West, who began dating in 2012.
