The college football rankings have been updated after the week four action, and there really wasn’t a whole lot of change near the top. A few teams flip-flopped here and there, but not much else looks different. Perhaps the biggest news is that Jim Harbaugh’s Michigan squad jumped into the new Associated Press Top 25 Poll, but haven’t yet made it into the new Coaches Poll, but let’s check out all the rankings.

After last week’s weekend of upsets , there really weren’t a lot of them this time around. Michigan absolutely trounced BYU 31-0 and ended up flying to number 22 in the AP Poll. As SB Nation pointed out, the Wolverines received no AP votes last week.

Even though there were no huge upsets, a number of teams just barely got by with a victory. TCU had a wild game with Texas Tech and somehow won. Coming off a big victory over Alabama, it took everything Ole Miss had to get by Vanderbilt, but they stayed undefeated.

As shown by ESPN , four teams ended up with first-place votes in the AP Top 25 Poll, so let’s check out the full rankings.

1. Ohio State 2. Michigan State 3. Ole Miss 4. TCU 5. Baylor 6. Notre Dame 7. UCLA 8. Georgia 9. LSU 10. Utah 11. Florida State 12. Clemson 13. Alabama 14. Texas A&M 15. Northwestern 17. USC 18. Stanford 19. Wisconsin 20. Oklahoma State 21. Mississippi State 22. Michigan 23. West Virginia 24. California 25. Florida

Oregon, Arizona, Georgia Tech, BYU, and Missouri all fell out of the top 25 rankings. Those same teams, and Auburn as well, fell out of the Top 25 Coaches Poll for this week too. Let’s check out that poll to see how much has changed from last week .

1. Ohio State 2. Michigan State 3. TCU 4. Baylor 5. Ole Miss 6. Georgia 7. Notre Dame 8. LSU 9. Florida State 10. UCLA 11. Clemson 12. Utah 13. Alabama 14. Oklahoma 15. Texas A&M 16. USC 17. Northwestern 18. Wisconsin 19. Oklahoma State 20. Stanford 21. West Virginia 22. Mississippi State 23. Florida T – 24. California T- 24. Oregon

Ohio State started to look more like a number one team and continued winning and staying on top of both polls. Michigan State also has continued to look strong and are staying solid at number two. Cal and West Virginia are both new this week as they look good in the early part of the season.

The SEC is still holding strong with seven teams in the Top 25 of both polls and each poll has three SEC teams in the top 10 as well. Alabama did slip one spot in each poll this week.

It’s still early this season and the NCAA football rankings are still going to change a lot as the year rolls on. The Associated Press Top 25 Poll and the Top 25 Coaches Poll didn’t have a lot of shake-ups this week, but anything can happen and that is why every game counts.
