Iranian activists are receiving more support from the 4chan inspired group Anonymous in a joint project with ThePirateBay, according to a report from crowd-sourced news site NowPublic:
Going well beyond greening their Twitter avatars , the two groups (along with support from other equally anonymous “internet-friendly forces” have set up Anonymous Iran — a new website with a forum that offers, as Wired notes , “tips on how to navigate online in private, upload files through the Iranian firewall, find the best activist Tweeters, and launch attacks on pro-government websites”.

This week, The Pirate Bay launched its virtual private network service that promises to mask users’ identities online. More than 180,000 people have already signed up. Earlier this month, Sweden’s Pirate Party won a seat in the European Union Parliament, after outrage about the file-sharers conviction erupted.
This also follows other, less publicized reports that 4chan and Fark has been helping to organize do-it-yourself proxy kits and DDoS attacks.
