Mitt Romney says President Obama has been stuck in “Fantasyland” in regards to how he has been handling the brewing war between Russian and Ukraine.
In a related report by The Inquisitr , a national security adviser to President Obama claimed Russia may be preparing to invade Ukraine . Already everyone is discussing how World War 3 may play out and whether or not it would be limited to economic warfare. But a journalist placed in power by Vladimir Putin has already started talking about “reducing the United States to radioactive ash.”
At this point, practically everyone who follows politics knows that Mitt Romney is being remembered for warning Obama about Russia only to be mocked during the election debates. Writing in an Op-Ed, Romney wrote that the Untied States squandered its chance to prevent the situation:
“There was a juncture when America had the potential to influence events, but we failed to act at the propitious point; that moment having passed, we were left without acceptable options. Their failure has been painfully evident: it is hard to name even a single country that has more respect and admiration for America today than when Obama took office.”
Recently, Romney went on Face The Nation where he slammed Obama’s leadership once again:
“Unfortunately, not having anticipated Russia’s intentions, the president wasn’t able to shape the kinds of events that may have been able to prevent the kinds of circumstances that you’re seeing in the Ukraine, as well as the things that you’re seeing in Syria. This is not Fantasyland, this is reality where they are a geopolitical adversary.”
Romney was mocked for the Op-Ed since it did not offer any solutions other than say it should have been prevented. So now he’s responded to that criticism by offering his solution:
“Had we, from the very beginning of the demonstrations in Ukraine, had we worked with our allies and said, ‘Look, let’s talk about the kinds of severe sanctions we would put in place if Russia were to decide to move,” and had we then communicated that to Russia beforehand, not put in place the sanctions but communicate, ‘Look, Russia, stand down here. Don’t you think about grabbing territory or these are the things that will have to happen. These are the actions we will take.”
Romney does say there could be more specified “things” that could be done. Of course, Mitt Romney’s Russia proposal is being made with perfect 20/20 hindsight after Putin has already played Obama. What do you think the United States should do with Russia in regards to Crimea?
