The United States has a new Attorney General, and her name is Loretta Lynch. No, not Loretta Lynn — and not that Loretta Lynch, either.
Since Loretta Lynch’s nomination and subsequent appointment to the office of Attorney General, it seems confusion has reigned. First of all, massive amounts of the general public seem to think (or have initially thought) Loretta Lynn , the famed country singer, was the new A.G.
Did I hear this right? Loretta Lynn is the new attorney general?! Why couldn’t this have been announced before the CMA’s.

Of the many who say they thought Loretta Lynn had been named to replace Eric Holder, some were almost certainly joking, and others realized their mistake right away. However, according to Media Matters , some have made a mistake that is perhaps both easier (at least, for those familiar with high-profile attorneys’ names) and more political. They’ve confused Loretta Lynch with Loretta Lynch.
Wait.
They’ve confused Loretta Lynch, who has been named as the new Attorney General, who will be the first black female A.G., who is from North Carolina and has spent a career in New York, with a different Loretta Lynch — an attorney based in California, who has been involved with political campaigns and with the Whitewater real estate investigation, which was tied to the Clintons 20 years ago (but turned up no faults by them).
So, for clarity, here’s the appointed Loretta Lynch.
The Loretta Lynch below has not been appointed Attorney General.
Loretta Lynn, country singer, as reported by Rolling Stone , just announced she’ll be releasing new music for the first time in a decade, so she’s probably a bit too busy to get into politics right now.
The actual Loretta Lynch is somewhat embattled already — some have accused President Obama of being racist for his selection, and many have attacked her for her politics. According to Huffington Post , she has quite a reputation as a civil rights advocate, but it looks like Loretta Lynch might have another issue to face before she tackles any of that: establishing her identity to the country.
