Miley Cyrus’ mother Tish has reportedly filed for divorce from Billy Ray Cyrus.
Billy Ray was actually the first one to file for divorce , filing papers in Tennessee three years ago, but ended up dropping the divorce five months later in March 2011 after a reconciliation. Cyrus said, “Things are the best they’ve ever been.”
At the time that he filed the divorce papers, Cyrus asked that the court approve a “Parenting Plan” to be signed by both parties and to”equitably divide the marital estate.”
This time, however, Tish Cyrus was the one to cite “irreconcilable differences” and is asking for full legal and physical custody of their 13-year-old daughter, Noah Lindsay. The couple have three children together, and Billy Ray Cyrus adopted his wife’s two children, Trace and Brandi, from a previous marriage. The couple has been married for nearly 21 years.
Billy Ray Cyrus was previously married to Cindy Smith from 1986 until 1991. The former couple co-wrote the hit “Where’m I Gonna Live” together, which was featured on Cyrus’ debut album, Some Gave All . Cyrus married Leticia “Tish” Finley, his childhood sweetheart, in 1992. In addition to Miley and Noah, the couple also have a son, Braison Chance . Cyrus also has a son, Christopher Cody, from a previous relationship.
Tish Cyrus has also reportedly asked that her husband pay alimony and her attorney’s fees. The date of separation has been listed as “to be decided.”
So far, it appears that Miley Cyrus has taken her mother’s side in the battle, tweeting at her father Thursday, “Since your texts and email obviously aren’t working would you like to talk like this?”
Even though her parents are splitting up, Miley Cyrus’ own relationship appears to still be going strong. The 20-year-old is still set to marry Liam Hemsworth , although the couple have gone through their own rough times recently.
