Michael Jackon’s ex-wife took the stand today to testify in the singer’s wrongful death trial . During his testimony, Debbie Rowe broke into tears when talking about Jackon’s fear of pain which forced him to rely on physicians and harmful drugs which eventually led to his demise.
Debbie Rowe says that Michael Jackson’s doctors were too eager to prescribe him various harsh drugs to ease his pain. While competing for his attention and payment, the doctors reportedly tried to “outdo” each other by giving more drugs.
She says that she was with Jackson when his dermatologist Dr. Arnold Klein and plastic surgeon Dr. Steven Hoefflin would prescribe different drugs and act as though they would take better care of him. In doing so, Michael Jackson was no more than a pawn in the doctor’s game to become wealthy and one of Michael Jackson’s primary health professionals.
According to Rowe, the singer was taking these drugs as far back as the 90’s when his fear of pain became very serious. Rowe stated:
Michael had a very low pain tolerance and his fear of pain was incredible. I think the doctors took advantage of him that way.
There was only one doctor that Rowe spoke highly of, Dr. Allan Metzger. When she became very worried about the prescriptions being given to Jackson, she notified Metzger who then kept a closer eye on Michael Jackson’s health.
On a trip to Germany in 1997 for the “HIStory” tour, Jackson complained that he could not sleep. Under Metzger’s guidance, doctors brought medical equipment to the hotel room to make sure that Jackson responded well to a Propofol treatment.
Propofol, the same drug that resulted in the pop star’s death, was therefore being given to him without a second thought for more than ten years.
