The country’s future First Lady is breaking with “tradition” by delaying her move to the White House. According to reporting by the New York Post , Melania Trump and her son Barron Trump will remain in their home at Trump Tower until Barron completes the school year.
Historically, based on past administrations, incoming members of the First Family make 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue their new home for the duration of the president’s term in office.
The President of the United States, First Lady, and minor children begin their new lives in the presidential mansion and soon become fixtures to tourists and the American electorate. As Fox News reported, Bill and Hillary Clinton moved Chelsea Clinton into the White House after the inauguration. Barack and Michelle Obama moved their minor children, Sasha and Malia, into the famous residence.

Both First Families enrolled their children in the prestigious Sidwell Friends private school of North Washington. However, the Trumps have different plans ahead and Melania is putting motherhood first.
The First-Lady-to-be, 46, and Barron, 10, will continue living in their ornate penthouse in Manhattan at least for seven months. Daily Mail says the President-elect Trump and his wife decided their son would remain enrolled in school until the next grade-level, according to Fox News .
Donald Trump spoke to the media recently during some free time. While taking a break from private meetings with potential applicants for his administration, the real estate magnate responded to reports of Melania’s delayed move, confirming his wife and are joining him at the White House “right after he [Barron] finishes school” in New York.

A Trump unnamed insider weighed in on the reports.
“Melania is extremely close to Barron, and they have become closer during the campaign. The campaign has been difficult for Barron, and she is really hoping to keep disruption to a minimum.”
Another unidentified source close to the Trump family said the former model and son will spend time at the White House when necessary. However, Melania Trump remains committed to her son before her duties as First Lady.
“Melania is very supportive of her husband and is fully on board of doing everything that’s needed as First Lady.”
Reportedly, Melania doesn’t use the services of a nanny for her son; she’s more hands-on and is often seen picking up Barron from the exclusive school.
While many applaud the future First Lady’s decision to prioritize family over her official duties, others are frowning on the family’s delayed relocation plans. Several New Yorkers, especially business owners and commuters, fear a traffic nightmare.
According to high-profile security experts, the NYPD and Trump’s Secret Service detail are challenged with creating ongoing strategies to protect the commander-in-chief.

Jim Reese is president of North Carolina-based global security company, TigerSwan. The former Delta Force commander weighed in on the challenges law enforcement officials face in securing Trump Tower.
“That building is going to become the White House of New York. The Secret Service is going to have to keep that whole area cordoned off so that some wacko can’t get close and detonate a car bomb.”
Already, pedestrian walkways and lanes for vehicular traffic are either closed or face some degree of restrictions. The public, already familiar with a heightened police presence of post-September 11, will experience additional security protocols like bag checks.
Insiders say Melania and Barron will have Secret Service members with them at all times. Furthermore, a team will sweep his school and routes along the way daily to prevent and contain any threats.
