Marine Corps Hats Called ‘Dan Daly’ Too ‘Girly’ For Marines Not Liking Obama’s Idea

The Marine Corps hats design proposed by President Obama is called the “Dan Daly” but it’s considered too “girly” by some Marines.

As previously reported by The Inquisitr , the Wounded Warrior Walk 2013 watched two Marines walk across America .

The reason that many Marines are fuming over the newly proposed Marine Corps hats design is because they’re designed to be unisex. As in, President Obama wants the new Marine Corps hats to look the same whether worn by males or females according to an internal memo leaked from the Department of Defense:

“The Marine Corps is being ‘encouraged’ by DoD to standardize on a unisex/universal dress and service cap.”

The current designs for Marine Corps hats are gender-specific. The new hats are thinner with a feminine line that President Obama believes would make them look just as good on one gender as the other. They have been dubbed the Dany Daly Marine Corps hats in honor of a World War I sergeant who twice won the Medal of Honor.

But the Dan Daly Marine Corps hats are already under heavy fire by the Marines themselves:

“We don’t even have enough funding to buy bullets, and the DoD is pushing to spend $8 million on covers that look like women’s hats! The Marines deserve better. It makes them look ridiculous.”

The total cost of making the change would be $8,221,958. Besides the manliness of the Marine Corps hats being at stake, some Marines feel the new design could be mistaken for a military not exactly known for its prowess:

“The Dan Daly cap looks too French, and the last people we want to associate our Marines with would be the French military.”

Fortunately, the future of the Dan Daly Marine Corps hats are not in the hands of President Obama. The Marines will vote on the proposed design change this Friday although General James Amos will make the final decision.
