Mariah Carey and Nick Cannon: Are The Divorce Rumors True?

Divorce rumors between Mariah Carey and Nick Cannon are nothing new, but with the couple selling their mansion for $10 million, all those rumors are starting to feel a little bit more accurate. As we’ve previously reported , the Mariah/Nick mansion sold for $10 million after Mariah went down from the asking price of $13 million. The couple still turned a profit, however, as the home was purchased for $7 million in 2009.

To sell only five years after buying a home raises a lot of questions about the couple’s marital status. TMZ sources say that Mariah and Nick are mostly likely looking to make their New York triplex their permanent home, as they want to raise their twins, Monroe and Moroccan, in the city.

Other tabloids however seem set on the divorce rumor , citing that the couple skipped celebrating their sixth wedding anniversary and are seen out in public separately, accompanied by business associates instead of each other. There’s also speculation that Mariah’s become too much of a diva for Nick to handle:

Mariah threw a diva fit and started browbeating Nick about being an absentee, no-good husband. She gave him hell for being immature and accused him of fooling around with other chicks. Mariah is burying herself in work, and her boozing is out of control. Mariah has never felt so alone. She’s been crying every day.

InTouch magazine suggests that the couple are not only divorcing, but are currently in the middle of a heated battle over money. The couple have a pre-nup agreement, and with Mariah’s reported $500 million worth, things could get ugly.

“Nick feels burned that Mariah is ready to pull the plug. They have a pre-nup, but after Nick tells his side of the story Mariah will most likely settle with him financially and realize her once-beautiful marriage has evaporated.”

The divorce would mark the end of a six year relationship that’s been heavy and very public from the get-go. Mariah and Nick married back in 2008, only two months after their first date. The couple is known for habitually renewing their vows in a ceremony every year, and skipping this year’s ceremony was the first red flag that something was up.

Or, perhaps now that they’ve got twins Monroe and Moroccan to worry about, plus Mariah’s new album, the couple decided for a quiet, private celebration and all these “divorce” whisperings are simply rumor. Regardless, Mariah and Nick prove to be an interesting couple to watch.
