Needing a penalty shoot-out to dispatch League Two outfit Carlisle United, Liverpool may have finally run out of patience with Brendan Rodgers. Liverpool’s slump in form has now prompted rumors that the Boston-based owners Fenway Sport Group (FSG) are now ready to sack Brendan Rodgers, with Carlo Ancelotti set to take over.

Liverpool has been on a rapid decline since their 2-1 defeat against Manchester United at Anfield. Brendan Rodgers’ has overseen a run of form that closely resembles that of a team fighting to stay in the Premier League rather than one that has spent close to £100 million on players in the last two years. Rodgers is now favorite of being the first manager to be sacked this season in the Premier League.

The atmosphere around Anfield is that Brendan Rodgers is a dead man walking, with the manager electing to abstain from press conferences with his assistant conducting press conferences. With that being said, FSG is still publicly backing Brendan Rodgers. Earlier yesterday, the Liverpool owners denied any approach to Carlo Ancelotti or any other managers.

#LFC adamant that they have not made an approach to Carlo Ancelotti. FSG still backing Brendan Rodgers.

Liverpool could not be any firmer this morning. The club is adamant there has been no approach to Carlo Ancelotti.

I agree but if you keep BR in the summer & give him 70 mil to spend on 7 players you can’t change after 6/7 games. https://t.co/UisNhRhR2q

Liverpool is set to make an official announcement at 9 a.m. GMT, according to Northern Ireland journalist Darragh Collins.

Jurgen Klopp has also been linked to the Liverpool job ever since he announced that he would resign as manager of Borussia Dortmund at the end of last season. The German manager has been leaving hints that he would welcome an approach from Liverpool and, according to British newspaper the Telegraph , “Jurgen Klopp is reported to be prepared to end his sabbatical early in order to take a job in the Premier League, as speculation over a possible move to Liverpool intensifies”.

Be very surprised if Klopp ends up at Anfield.
