The trailer for Linsanity teases American professional basketball player Jeremy Lin’s long road to becoming a modern legend.
Evan Leong directed the film, and has been following Jeremy Lin for years, reports Sports Illustrated. He has documented the 25-year-old since his days at Palo Alto High School, and the result is Linsanity , a feature-length and in-depth documentary that chronicles Lin’s extremely difficult road to becoming an overnight success.
Lin is often regarded as having the “ biggest story in sports .” He struggled in high school against limited NCAA interest , and wasn’t offered any athletic scholarships out of high school. He went on to Harvard University, but was undrafted after graduation.
He eventually reached a contract deal with his hometown Golden State Warriors, but hardly ever played as was assigned to the D-League three times. He finally joined the New York Knicks in 2011-2012, though still, he barely played and was relegated to the D-League.
Then in February 2012, he led a winning streak which resulted in a promotion to the starting lineup and a global following dubbed “Linsanity.” In 2012 he signed a three-year deal with the Rockets. The rest, as they say, is history.
Linsanity the film debuted at Sundance in January , and has made other festival rounds since then. The film has already earned some glowing reviews, and it will release in select, major cities on October 4. You can watch the Linsanity trailer up top.
