It’s official; Leighton Meester and Adam Brody are engaged! A couple made straight out of tween drama heaven, Brody, who played Seth Cohen on The O.C., and Meester, who played Blair Waldorf on The CW’s Gossip Girl , are headed down the aisle. Leighton and Adam have been dating for a little less than a year, but met on the set of the 2011 film The Oranges .
It’s said that Adam Brody popped the question to Leighton Meester in the fall. According to a source, friends and family gathered for an engagement party for the two in Los Angeles on November 10. At the time that the news of an engagement party broke, reps didn’t return calls concerning their clients engagement. Now the news has been confirmed via a source from Us Weekly .
The pair unintentionally took their romance public when the news broke of their relationship back in February. Both were on long running shows created by Josh Schwartz, and must have found something in common on the set of The Oranges . After the film wrapped, the two started “hanging out” in early 2013. According to Star Magazine, even though Leighton had no idea Adam was going to pop the question to her, the couple had ” talked about getting married eventually.”
Before dating Adam Brody, the Gossip Girl actress dated actors Sebastian Stan and Aaron Himelstein. For Brody, he carried on a long relationship with his O.C. co-star Rachel Bilson. The two split and Brody moved on to director and screenwriter Lorene Scafaria in 2010.
Although the pair are exclusively quiet about their relationship, Meester opened up about falling in love in general. At the time, Leighton told Lucky magazine in 2012:
“I love love. It’s the most intriguing universally understood emotion, and it comes in so many forms: family love, love of friends. I fall in love with everybody all the time.”
