Kristen Stewart decided to drop out of the public eye shortly after scoring hits with the Twilight franchise and Snow White and the Huntsman .
Instead of keeping that cinematic ball rolling by accepting roles in big projects, Stewart jumped into a handful of indie flicks and practically disappeared altogether. While some believed her absence had something to do with the drama that erupted between the actress and director Rupert Sanders , Stewart tells a slightly different story.
During her recent chat with Vanity Fair France , Kristen Stewart discussed why she needed to step away from major Hollywood productions after the success of the aforementioned films. Apparently riding that “huge wave” was a bit too much for the actress, who needed some time to collect her thoughts and enjoy life for a moment.
However, it’s clear that Stewart has no intention of saying goodbye to the business .
“Seriously, I think that after ‘Twilight’ and after ‘Snow White and the Huntsman,’ which were such huge movies, that I felt I didn’t want to search for the next ‘big, successful’ thing. One thing that people do with two enormous movies is think that that’s their thing now, to do big movies, and ride that wave. I got off this huge wave and said, ‘I’m going to go in for a bit.’ I’m going to come back out later. That was good. I needed some time off… I needed to like, live in my house and be surrounded by my own sh*t and play guitar and write.”

Stewart also explained that sometimes her bad performances are the direct result of the people she’s working with on a project. Although she didn’t single anyone out during her interview with Vanity Fair France , she made it clear that sometimes she simply cannot muster a strong performance when her costar sucks.
“I’ve had to be in front of people and be like, ‘Oh, thank God we only have a few scenes together. I never know until a few days, or a few scenes, in. At first you think maybe we just haven’t fallen into our rhythm. But as soon as you are exhausted by trying to find it, you give up and just sort of fall into default mode — it’s just s**tty. It’s just not fun. And it’s not as good. When I look at those scenes I go, ‘ugh.’ I don’t like watching them.”
