Nearly two months after her death, Anita Wright, who was a content creator, continues to connect with her 160,000 followers on Instagram. On May 7, at the age of 77, Wright passed away after undergoing treatments for ovarian cancer. On her Instagram, she regularly updated on her health status and also shared her lifestyle and journey after being diagnosed.

On Wednesday, July 2, nearly two months since her death, her daughter shared her pre-recorded “final message” on her social media. Wright, who opted for assisted suicide, joked in the video that she was “looking pretty good for a dead person.”

In the clip, she also explained the reason behind the difficult decision she took to end her life. “I have passed away. Yes, that’s the truth of the matter, and I video recorded this so my daughters could post it and let you all know what has gone on. I chose to use MAID, which is medical assistance in dying.”

The late influencer added, ” “It’s a perfect thing for me. I didn’t want to suffer any longer and my girls didn’t want me to suffer and nor did my friends.”

“It wasn’t scary. It wasn’t scary at all. I just basically got an IV and then nodded off. The truth of the matter is, it’s hard for everybody that’s left. So I would love it if you guys could all rally around each other.”

“And anybody who is upset by this post, know that I’m OK. I’m OK,” Wright said. “If there was a way I could come back and tell you that, I would. But, trust me, I’m OK.”

In the video, she also inspired other cancer patients to stay hopeful, as the health industry is always developing new treatments. “I also wanted to honor all of you and let you know how much I have loved being one of your influencers, being one of your friends, being somebody that has taken some of my advice to heart and some of you have given me great advice,” Anita stated.

She ended her video with a final goodbye: “I love you all, I loved being here, I’ll see you on the other side,” before blowing kisses for her followers, who she expected would be watching with teary eyes.

Her daughters, who posted the video, explained that they felt it was the right moment to upload her final message as her followers “were so very important to her.”

In 2022, Anita Wright was diagnosed with fourth-stage ovarian cancer. The Cleveland Clinic says that the disease has a 49% survival rate.
