Kendrick Lamar is on a roll and not planning to stop any time soon. Just three weeks after the surprise release of To Pimp A Butterfly , Kendrick’s album is certified gold. With over 500,000 units sold, To Pimp a Butterfly is Kendrick’s second gold album, according to Vibe .

This past week on the market was reportedly a close call, but Kendrick thrived, selling about 63,000 units in week three. The album came in at number four on the Billboard Hot 200 chart. With so much already going on for Kendrick, it would stand to reason that he would be taking it easy, but the rapper already has another project in the works.

It was recently announced that Kendrick Lamar would be working on a joint album with J. Cole . The highly-anticipated collaboration has no official release date or even a title. In a recent interview , Kendrick revealed that although they were keeping the details hushed, the project is definitely happening.

“We got in a few times. There’s not a lot of fronting involved with either of us. I feel like that’s the new wave. We gon drop that out the sky. I ain’t gonna give no dates, no nothing. I’m just gonna let it fall.”

Kendrick’s statement has been taken literally by fans, who believe that he gave a hint of the title. Many have stated that the title of the joint Kendrick Lamar and J. Cole album is Out of the Sky . So far, neither Kendrick or Cole have confirmed it.

While Kendrick is reaching new heights in his album’s success, he continues to make his mark on pop culture. After the hype of “King Kunta,” Lamar held a show where he performed his poem “i,” proving once again that he is a socially conscious rapper. For those who don’t know, the spelling is N-E-G-U-S, as Kendrick yelled out to a crowd. As conscious as he may be, he had no idea that his work would help a 12-year-old child in a spelling bee. The occurrence has resulted in meme videos where verses from Kendrick’s “i” respond to the kid while on stage.

With his second certified gold album, another one already in the works and his clear ability to influence pop culture, Kendrick Lamar can definitely claim that he is “the realest Negus alive.”
