To use an old phrase, it seems the Rolling Stones are gathering no moss, as Keith Richards confirms that the band has “definite plans” to record a new album. While some much younger bands split up, it seems old rockers just keep on rocking.

According to Reuters , in a live interview on iHeartRadio Tuesday, Keith Richards spoke of a recent group meeting of the band in London, where they discussed making a new Rolling Stones album . While he doesn’t know when, or where, it is definitely in their future.

Richards was in the process of promoting the upcoming release of his own solo album, Crosseyed Heart , when the 71-year-old opened up that he and his fellow Stones, Mick Jagger, Charlie Watts and Ronnie Wood, were ready to head back into the studio.

“I was in London last week, and the boys and I got together, and yeah, there are now definitely plans to record.”

“Don’t know where, don’t know when yet. We had a little chat. We were just saying, ‘We gotta get in the studio right? Right?’ ‘That’s agreed. Okay, boys, that’s agreed.’ Where, when – [we] scratch our heads.”

Recording is set to start after the Rolling Stones’ planned South American tour early in 2016. The news comes after a record break between albums of 10 years, with the last album being the 2005 release, A Bigger Bang.

According to Entertainment Weekly, while Keith Richards said that recording would probably start after the Stones’ South American tour in February, he did say “you never know.”

“We might try to get into the studio before Christmas. I think that’s sort of doubtful, with Christmas being Christmas, all that buildup. But at the same time, it’s definitely in the works.”

Earlier in the year, Mick Jagger had said he wasn’t sure about a new Stones album.

“It would be very nice and I’ve got a lot of new songs and songs I’ve written over the last couple of years.”

“I’ve done really good demos for all of them, which I would love to record. So, let’s hope so.”

In the meantime, Keith Richards, who was touring North America with the Stones up until mid-July, will be releasing his solo album Crosseyed Heart Friday. This will be his first solo release in over 20 years.

Reportedly, the album is a mix of rock, reggae, and country music, featuring Richards on electric and acoustic guitars, bass, and piano as well as singing. Reportedly, the album also features collaborations with keyboardist Ian Neville, guitarist Waddy Wachtel and vocalist Norah Jones.
