Throughout the years rapper Kanye West has proved that he isn’t shy about opening his mouth to express his emotions at any given time. Jay-Z opened up about his friend West, and the wishes he had for the Watch The Throne album, which was released in 2011.

Since then Jay-Z has released his latest album Maga Carta Holy Grail , which is currently touting its first single “Holy Grail” around to radio stations. That said, there’s one person who wasn’t exactly happy about the song and that’s none other than friend and collaborator Kanye West.

Jay-Z revealed to NME that he had started working on “Holy Grail” which featured current tour mate Justin Timberlake, and “Oceans” which features Frank Ocean, around the same time he was working with Kanye West on the collaborative album Watch The Throne .

According to the rapper, West wanted those two specific songs on the album. When Jay-Z made those two tracks and played them for Kanye West it resulted in a long four-day argument about whether or not the songs should be on Watch the Throne .

Jay-Z spoke about his argument with Kanye over “Holy Grail” and “Oceans”:

“[There were] no lyrics on ‘Holy Grail’ and I recorded ‘Oceans’ and I played those records for Kanye. And he was like, ‘No those have to go on Watch the Throne,’ so we spent four days arguing about those records and I was explaining to him why it wasn’t right for this project and I had a whole idea for making this album called Magna Carta. Holy Grail [part of] the name came after.”

Jay-Z went on to explain that even though it sounds like the fight might have been tiring, that it wasn’t anything to really have much concern over:

“Four days literally arguing, not like fighting. Well, there was some pushing at one point but not between us, just everyone else got a little excited.”

Are you happy that Jay-Z included “Holy Grail” and “Oceans” on his new album Magna Carta Holy Grail?
