According to Johnny Depp, his days on the big screen are numbered.
Considering the critical lashing the beloved actor has taken over the past year or so, it’s not altogether surprising that the Dark Shadows star wants to take a break from Hollywood.
During an interview with BBC Breakfast that’s set to air this Monday (July 29), Depp said that he’s really not that far away from hanging up his cinematic hat.
“When you add up the amount of dialog you say per year and you realize you’ve said written words more than you’ve had a chance to say your own words, that becomes an insane option for a human being,” the actor told Susanna Reid during his recent interview.
If you’re concerned that Johnny Depp is going to retire before delivering sequels to Alice in Wonderland and Pirates of the Caribbean , then you can rest easy this evening. The Lone Ranger star still plans to bring these projects to fruition.
However, it would appear that Depp is definitely interested in dropping out of the public eye. Before this happens, the actor will still deliver Transcendence, Into the Woods, and David Koepp’s Mortdecai. Of course, it’s unclear when the actor intends to officially bid farewell to the industry.
“Are there quieter things I wouldn’t mind doing? Yes, I wouldn’t mind that. I wouldn’t say I am dropping out any second but I would say it’s not too far away,” he explained.
Johnny Depp isn’t the only A-lister planning to give up the craft. Brad Pitt , Ryan Philippe, and Ryan Gosling all hinted that their days in front of the camera were drawing to a close.
Anthony Hopkins has announced his retirement on numerous occasions. According to Internet Movie Database , the talented actor currently has a number of projects waiting in the wings. Sometimes it’s best to announce your retirement when you’ve punched the clock for the last time.
