Jennifer Esposito recently sat down to discuss what caused her to part ways with CBS and Blue Bloods , according to Deadline .

After the actress’ doctor explained she would have to cut back her on workload due to complications from Celiac disease, CBS TV Studios decided to place Esposito on medical leave. The Blue Bloods star said this effectively prevents her from finding work elsewhere since she’s still under contract with the network.

During an interview with Arthel Neville on the Fox News Channel , Jennifer Esposito explained her growing displeasure with the situation.

“Last week I believe I was told I was on suspension, which meant I am still in contract, not being paid, because that’s suspension and they illegally stopped paying,” the actress explained. “And I am not able to work on any other TV show, on network. I can do a film or a Broadway or something on cable that doesn’t go in the ten o’clock time slot.”

She added, “So they kept me in my contract without pay and yes it’s completely illegal but they also knew that I didn’t have the money or the means to sue them.”

Although the actress said things of this nature can happen in the business from time to time, she feels producers don’t fully understand the seriousness of her illness.

“This, though, is something that is not about me, I feel. This is about a disease that people don’t understand. And what went on after, it makes me sick,” she said.

Cinema Blend reported in October that CBS felt they had no choice but to place the actress on medical leave.

“Jennifer has informed us that she is only available to work on a very limited part-time schedule. As a result, she’s unable to perform the demands of her role and we regretfully had to put her character on a leave of absence,” CBS explained.

Jennifer Esposito’s last episode of Blue Bloods aired on November 2. Are you sad to see her character leave the show?
