Jennette McCurdy says she applauds Miley Cyrus in a lot of ways.
The former iCarly actress recently spoke to the HuffPost Live, and spoke highly of the “Wrecking Ball” singer.
“I applaud Miley in a lot of ways,” McCurdy said . “I don’t know her personally — I’ve met her at a few events, and she’s always very kind. She seems like she’s really happy with what she’s doing, and I think that’s amazing.”
“I feel oftentimes I overthink things,” she added, “and will [have] the thought process [of]… ‘Which do I do?’ That kind of neurotic sensibility can be frustrating and maybe not as fulfilling as just being like, ‘I’m going to do me. I’m going to be Miley.’ ”
McCurdy rose to fame on Nickelodeon’s teen series, iCarly . With that, she became a household name among children, and a role model for young adults. McCurdy said she quickly had to realize that being a role model is a great responsibility that she definitely needed to take seriously.

“I want to make sure that when I say things, I think kind of before I speak, because I do recognize that maybe some young people look up to me and listen to what I have to say,” McCurdy said during the interview on Wednesday, June 10. “So I just don’t want to give them the wrong thing to model their years off of.”
While she tries to portray the image everyone wants to see, she admits that she makes a lot of mistakes.
“I think it’s dangerous territory if it’s [someone like me],” McCurdy said. “I’m 22; I make mistakes all the time. I’m trying really hard, but I would never want someone to make the same mistakes I did because they think, ‘She did, so I’ll do the same thing.’ ”

McCurdy is currently starring the Netflix series Between , where she plays the character Wiley Day, a pregnant teenage daughter of a minister living in a town called Pretty Lake, which is dealing with a mysterious disease that has killed everyone who was over the age of 22.
