Vice President JD Vance is reassuring Americans that prices, which spiked after the recent government shutdown, will soon improve. Is he taking accountability on behalf of the administration? Probably! Vance urged people to be patient as the administration works to improve the economy.

When Trump imposed high tariffs in April 2025, several countries, including India and Brazil, were upset. Trump reassured them that the move was intended to spur an overall economic upswing. Still, it backfired on the country in recent days.

The Irish Star reports that JD Vance acknowledged that high prices continue to drag down the Trump administration’s approval ratings. “As much progress as we’ve made, it’s going to take a little time for Americans to feel that,” he said.

However, while speaking at the Breitbart News event, the VP made a shocking comparison that sparked significant backlash. Vance pointed to the price of everyday goods.

JD Vance on the economy:

“The thing that I’d ask for the American people is a little bit of patience.”

“If you’re an American who’s just trying to get by… and the price of eggs goes from $2 a dozen to $8 a dozen under the Biden administration, and then back down to $6.50, that is still a major problem,” he told the audience.

The remark caused outrage, as people questioned Vance’s and Trump’s credibility and the toxic habit of constantly comparing their accomplishments to Biden’s. Netizens slammed JD Vance and his “patience remark.”

“Banks, insurance companies, and grocery stores don’t accept patience as payment,” and “I’ll tell my creditors you said to be patient,” a user wrote. JD Vance’s remarks came shortly after new federal data, delayed by the government shutdown for more than seven weeks. The move showed that the U.S. trade deficit fell nearly 24% in August, dropping to $59.6 billion.

However, speaking to reporters in Florida last weekend, Trump claimed the country has already turned a corner. “Our prices are coming down very substantially on groceries and things,” he said. “They’re already at a much lower level than they were with the last administration.”

He always lied to you.

Grocery prices have increased 1.4 percent between January and September, and consumer prices overall have climbed an average of 1.7 percent during Trump’s second term.  While inflation isn’t at its peak, the prices haven’t dropped. Trump recently rolled back tariffs on items such as beef, coffee, tea, cocoa, fruit juice, spices, bananas, oranges, tomatoes, and some fertilisers.

Yet, he claimed that America is doing “phenomenally well” under his leadership. Trump told Fox News‘ Laura Ingraham in an interview that the country is currently enjoying “the greatest economy they’ve ever had,” while ruling out the high prices of coffee and beef.

Trump’s delusions seem to have been busted right after his “great” claims by an economics professor from the University of Michigan. Speaking with Kaitlan Collins on CNN, he called Trump’s claims “lies”. He said no one can believe anything the 79-year-old says, pointing out that inflation remains a relevant concern for America.

“Look, every word the President just said is a lie. Worse than that, it’s such a lie that I worry there’s literally a break with reality inside the man’s mind. I can tell you that because I’m a statistics nerd, and you can go to the Bureau of Labor Statistics — they’ve got people in supermarkets all across the country — and almost every category of goods or services is seeing prices rise.”

He said: “Prices are down under Trump.’

Me: “It is quite literally false. There’s not a single way you can interpret a word that the man’s saying..as being remotely reflective of either what we’re seeing in data from all across the country or in people’s everyday lives.” pic.twitter.com/0V3SBp7C7q

Axios reports that the administration will make payments of $1,000 to $2,000 to people. While the idea has been seen as a strategy to grab the spotlight rather than a serious agenda, Trump still believes that countries that took advantage of America have paid back through his policies.
