JD Vance is back with yet another controversial statement. The Vice President of America mocked the Black Lives Matter movement after the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) and Rwanda signed a new treaty at the White House on Friday. Vance made a provocative post on his social media that has angered many.
“The peace treaty signing yesterday between the Democratic Republic of Congo and the Republic of Rwanda was truly historic. That war has killed more than any since World War 2, almost all of them black,” JD Vance wrote on his Blue Sky account.
“I’m sure the leaders and supporters of the black lives matter movement will join me in celebrating President Trump today, who has done more to save black lives than any leader in our country,” the VP added.
According to CNN, the militia backed by Rwanda continues to terrorize parts of the DRC. Hence, there are still doubts about whether the agreement, which Donald Trump’s administration helped broker, can help subsidize the decades-long violence in eastern Congo.
NBC News further reported that despite the treaty, it remains unclear whether the militias have actually agreed to end the violence. At the same time, the question remains about whether this agreement could ultimately lead the two nations to assist the U.S. government and American enterprises in accessing the critical minerals in the region.
While meeting with the foreign ministers of DRC and Rwanda at the White House, Donald Trump described the pact as a “wonderful treaty.”
President Trump welcomed the Foreign Ministers of Rwanda and the Democratic Republic of Congo to the Oval Office to sign a historic peace agreement, ending a 30-year conflict.

He said, “Today, the violence and destruction comes to an end, and the entire region begins a new chapter of hope and opportunity, harmony, prosperity and peace.”
Secretary of State Marco Rubio further added, “President Trump is a president of peace. He really does want peace. He prioritizes it above all else.”
However, JD Vance’s comment, which came about a day later, has shocked many. The official X (formerly Twitter) account of Black Lives Matter responded to his comment with a jab.
“NURSE, HE’S OUT AGAIN!”
The group added, “HE’S JOKING, RIGHT? JD VANCE WILDLY CLAIMS TRUMP HAS DONE ‘MORE TO SAVE BLACK LIVES THAN ANY LEADER.”
Social media was also divided over Vance’s remarks. Many BLM advocates couldn’t help but express their anger. One Blue Sky user called out the Trump administration for focusing on gaining access to DRC minerals instead of ending the violence.

“Racist MAGA Trump Regime. A presidential proclamation issued June 2025 placed a ban on nationals from 12 countries, including the Republic of the Congo. Additionally, the U.S. has imposed restrictions on the types of airports where individuals recently in the Republic of the Congo can arrive.”
A second user further questioned the U.S. administration’s intention. “Quick question. Did Trump get involved because he wanted to save black lives or because he wanted to strike mineral deals with each country and the war was in the way of mining those minerals? I am reasonably sure it was the latter.”
However, MAGA supporters quickly joined in the chaos. “Meanwhile, what has Black Lives Matter delivered? A pile of burned cities, millions in unaccounted donations, and a real estate portfolio that would make Wall Street blush,” one user, who seems to be at Donald Trump’s side, commented.
Another person on X wrote, “Trump freed blacks from prison. Biden / Harris helped put them there. What’s the confusion?”
