Jay-Z stunned his countless fans when he decided to ride the New York City subway to a show back in October. Now video of his curious adventure has been made available online.
According to Starpulse , the rapper took all of the footage shot during his journey through the NYC subway system and transformed it into a free documentary. The entire 24-minute clip has been uploaded to YouTube for everyone to enjoy.
During his journey to the Barclays Center Arena, Jay-Z had an opportunity to chat up an elderly woman who didn’t immediately recognize the rapper. Instead of posturing or dropping names, Jay-Z handled the situation with poise and grace.
The woman, who identified herself as Ellen, immediately starts chatting up the musician. When asked what he does for a living, Jay-Z gave her a very simple answer.
“I make music. [I’m] not very famous, you don’t know me. I’ll get there some day. I’m on my way to a performance in Brooklyn at the new Brooklyn arena,” the rapper explained.
“Oh, that’s fabulous. And you are going by subway? I’m proud of you,” Ellen replied.
It was only after he was asked to repeat his name did the woman realize who she was sitting next to on the New York City subway.
“Oh! You’re Jay-Z? I know about Jay-Z,” she laughed.
Jay-Z’s encounter with Ellen is just a small section of the 24-minute online documentary. Even if you’re not a fan of the rapper’s music, it’s hard to deny the man’s charms as he encounters countless fans who seem genuinely surprised to see the man mingling with the masses.
According to JSOnline , the Where’ I’m From documentary follows the creation of the Barclays Center in addition to chronicling Jay-Z’s preparation for several shows at the arena.
