iOS7 and the iPhone 5S release date are upon us, but how is the Apple iPhone 5S compared to the 5?
As previously reported by The Inquisitr , yesterday the Apple Launch Event detailed iOS7, the iPhone 5S, and the iPhone 5C along with other Apple apps.
Apple says the iOS7 release date for the iPhone 5S as well older iPhones is coming soon. The developer version of iOS7 was released yesterday. iOS7 feature a new lock screen, home screen, and an iPhone Control Center which is accessed by swiping from the bottom of the screen.
Many of the iOS7 apps are receiving new features, with the camera and photos apps getting the most attention. Siri is being updated for iOS7 to include a male voice option and Wikipedia searching. iOS7 will of course support the Touch ID fingerprint sensor on the iPhone 5S .
The new art style for iOS7 is immediately noticeable. The iOS7 lock screen will change from the traditional grid to round black buttons. iPhone App icons will be flatter and matte colored. The Apple apps will themselves redesigned to be more uniform and black and white by getting rid of the color gradients and shiny effects. Your existing apps won’t be affected by such differences, although it’s possible iOS7 developers might be expected to conform to the new art style standard.
But now all Apple devices will be iOS7 compatible. Here is the iOS 7 compatibility list along with the limitations for each device:
- iOS7 will be fully compatible with the iPhone 5S, iPhone 5C, and iPhone 5.
- iOS7 supports iPhone 4S except for the extra camera filters and AirDrop. The iPhone 4 does not support the iOS7 Siri or Panoramic photos.
- The fourth generation iPad, iPad mini, and 5th generation iPod touch are fully iOS7 compatible. The third generation iPad does not support the iOS7 camera filters, Panoramic photos, or AirDrop. The iPad 2 has the same iOS7 limitations, but also does not support the iOS7 Siri, photos app filters, and square photos and videos.
- All other iPhone, iPad, or iPod models will be limited to iOS 6.
The new iOS7 also comes in two versions: 32 bit and 64 bit. Only the iPhone 5S will support iOS7 64 bit since it’s the only Apple iPhone model to have the 64 bit A7 processor. Not even the new Iphone 5C supports iOS 7 64 bit, since it shares the same CPU as the iPhone 5.
The iOS7 release date is September 18 and will be free for download.
