Hong Kong Tycoon Cecil Chao’s Lesbian Daughter Pens Open Letter To Her Father

Hong Kong business tycoon Cecil Chao recently offered $120 million to any man who would kindly marry his daughter. Here’s the problem: Gigi Chao is a lesbian.

Although Chao claimed he didn’t want to meddle in his daughter’s private affairs, the Hong Kong businessman can’t seem to come to terms with his daughter’s sexuality. Cecil made a similar offer a few years back, though he was only coughing up $60 million to potential suitors. Now it seems that he’s doubled the bounty .

Gigi Chao said she’s flattered that her father cares enough about her to make such a ridiculous offer, though it’s highly doubtful any man will alter her sexual preference. In an open letter to the Hong Kong tycoon , Gigi thoroughly explained her position on the matter.

Cecil Chao’s daughter opened the letter by stating that she and her brothers deeply love and respect their father. Although the Hong Kong businessman is adding some unnecessary stress to her life, Gigi doesn’t seem to have any animosity towards the man.

She even apologizes for the ridicule he’s received in recent days:

“I am sorry that people have been saying insensitive things about you lately. The truth is, they don’t understand that I will always forgive you for thinking the way you do, because I know you think you are acting in my best interests. And we both don’t care if anybody else understands. As your daughter, I would want nothing more than to make you happy. But in terms of relationships, your expectations of me and the reality of who I am, are not coherent.”

Gigi Chao also accepts part of the blame since she’s had male lovers in the past. However, she told her father that none of these relationships provided her with the happiness she found in Sean. Gigi added that she regrets breaking the hearts of a few good men.

She continued:

“My regret is that you have no idea how happy I am with my life, and there are aspects of my life that you don’t share. I suppose we don’t need each other’s approval for our romantic relationships, and I am sure your relationships are really fantastic too… I’ve spent a lot of time figuring out who I am, what is important in my life, who I love and how best to live life, as an expression of all these questions. I am proud of my life, and I would not choose to live it any other way.”

At the end of the letter, Gigi apologizes for making her father think there weren’t any good men left in Hong Kong. While Cecil Chao might have a few in mind, his daughter insists they simply aren’t for her. Check out the full letter at the South China Morning Post .
