HGTV Dream Home 2013 Sweepstakes Features Green Living

Charleston, SC – The HGTV Dream House 2013 sweepstakes features green living this year. For the past 16 years, HGTV has been running a contest for winning a custom-built dream home that goes to a lucky viewer. For 2013, HGTV’s Dream House is located on Kiawah Island near Charleston, South Carolina.

To win the HGTV Dream Home 2013 fans can enter once daily at both HGTV.com and FrontDoor.com for an opportunity to score this sensational prize package. HGTV host Monica Pedersen will showcase the house they may win by entering the HGTV Dream Home 2013 Giveaway. The winner of the annual HGTV giveaway will also get $500,000 and a 2013 GMC Acadia Denali to park in their bottom floor garage.

The episode for the HGTV Dream Home 2013 already aired on January 1 and 2, but, for those who missed it, they can catch it again on January 18 and 21. Daily entries will be accepted until February 15, 2013 on HGTV.com. HGTV Facebook and Twitter fans can elect to receive ongoing updates and new details.

What sets apart this year’s HGTV Dream House is the green amenities they have built into the design of the three story building. According to ZAP2it, the “home is part of the Indigo Village green-living neighborhood, and boasts a streamlined kitchen with bamboo flooring, a master bathroom suite with a nearly two-foot deep soaking tub, an outdoor shower, and a front deck built from sustainable hardwood.”

This green home has achieved Platinum LEED Certification from the the US Green Building Council because of the use of eco-friendly materials and green building practices. The technologies that the HGTV Dream Home 2013 incorporates allows the home owner to save the environment through high levels of energy and water efficiency. For example, they use LED light bulbs, recycled materials, geothermal energy, and bamboo flooring.

According to Building Online , not only do you get a home, cash, and a car; the house itself comes fully loaded:

“The fully furnished HGTV Dream Home 2013 features products provided by national advertising partners including GMC, Lumber Liquidators, Inc., Bounty Paper Towels, The Sherwin-Williams Company, BISSELL® Homecare, Inc., Delta Faucet, DISH, Kraft Foods NA, Progressive Insurance, Vitamix®, Ethan Allen Global Inc., Johns Manville, and PetSmart, Inc.”
