Herman Cain, who dropped out of the Republican primaries after numerous sexual harassment allegations, believes that if he had been given the GOP nomination, he would be beating President Barack Obama in the polls.
Cain stated on Friday that he would have a “substantial lead” over Obama, if he were in Mitt Romney’s place, reports CNN . Cain added that:
“The reason is quite simple: I have some depth to my ideas.”
The politician suspended his GOP bid in December after a flurry of allegations of past sexual impropriety came to light. After he teased of an “unconventional endorsement” in the GOP race, Cain stated he supported “the people,” adding that it was the beginning of a political revolution.
He first backed former House Speaker New Gingrich in January, ahead of the closely watched Florida GOP primary. At the time, Cain praised Gingrich and his “bold ideas” as the reason for his choice. In May, however, Cain held an endorsement event in Washington, DC to help Romney.
The Gainsville Sun notes that Herman Cain is the former CEO of Godfather’s Pizza, and hit the highlights of his upbringing and his business career, before stating that, “Stupid people are ruining America, and we’ve got to take it back.”
He also told members of the media after the speech that Romney’s recent “47 percent” comment was simply a “non-story” that is being blown out of proportion by the media.
Herman is best-known for his “9-9-9” tax plan, using part of his speech on Thursday to call for a revamp of the tax code. Before he allegedly insulted Romney’s campaign, Herman Cain added that he had no interest at all in a Cabinet position if Romney wins the election.
